Free Webinar Offers Nonprofit Leaders Practical Strategies to Prevent Staff Burnout Without Bigger Budgets

Ascend People addresses record burnout levels across the nonprofit sector with structural HR strategies rather than wellness perks.

GREENBELT, MD, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Ascend People, a woman-owned HR consulting firm serving nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations, will host a free webinar, 'Burnout Is Real. So Is Your Budget: Practical Strategies for Sustainable Nonprofit Staffing,' on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. ET via Zoom.

The webinar arrives as burnout data across the nonprofit sector reaches its most alarming levels on record. According to the Center for Effective Philanthropy's State of Nonprofits 2026 report, 46 percent of nonprofit CEOs say burnout is 'very much' a concern this year, up from 29 percent in 2025. The Social Impact Staff Retention Project found that nearly seven in ten nonprofit employees planned to look for a new job, and sector turnover runs close to double the rate of other U.S. industries.

Rather than offering wellness perks or one-size-fits-all fixes, the session focuses on the structural drivers of burnout: the pay practices, policies, management systems, and role clarity that shape how work is experienced. Attendees will leave with practical strategies they can implement with the staff and budget they already have, organized around five areas of organizational health: financial wellbeing, workplace culture and safety, growth and development, agency and voice, and work structure and autonomy.

'Nonprofit leaders have been told to fix burnout with wellness perks their budgets can't support and their teams don't actually find helpful,' said Whitney Herrington, CEO of Ascend People. 'Burnout is a systems problem. This webinar is about the people systems any organization can strengthen, even on a tight budget, because the work isn't going anywhere and neither should your best people.'

The session is designed for nonprofit executive directors, operations leaders, and HR managers, as well as foundation leaders who want to support the organizational health of the nonprofits they fund. Research from the Center for Effective Philanthropy shows most foundation leaders are concerned about burnout at their grantee organizations, yet only about half engage in practices to support grantee staff wellbeing.

Registration is free and open to all at page.ascendpeople.co/burnoutisreal. All registrants will receive the session recording and a practical burnout prevention checklist.
